Lopez’s appearance was especially timely in light of her recent turn as the glamorous underdog Ramona in HustlersHer performance as a stripper who just wanted to get even had a metaphysical edge to it as Lopez, herself an underdog as an actress and a musician, finally got the credit she’s been fighting for her entire career. It’s curious, though, that 2020 marks the 16th year since Janet Jackson’s 2004 performance with Justin Timberlake and the infamous “wardrobe malfunction” that almost killed Jackson’s career. (Jackson was burdened with the blame and was blackballed for exposing a breast.) A decade and a half later, Shakira showed how much times have changed. She was clearly in charge of her sexuality onstage and emboldened by her own agency, with few dudes to speak of among her backup dancers. (Though Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny accompanied Shakira for a song.) That feels a little like growth.
Chicagoan Chance the Rapper took the stage for the NBA All-Star Game halftime performance and stole the show.In his five-song set, Chance welcomed several other stars, including Lil Wayne for the song, “No Problem” and DJ Khaled and Quavo for “I’m the One.” He also incorporated the South Shore Drill team into his performance.Chance performed a version of Kanye West’s “Ultralight Beam” without Yeezy, who was sitting courtside for at least the first half of the game. Chance honored Kobe Bryant during the song "I was a Rock".

This weeks Monday motivation is brought to you by the movies. What are some all time classic movie soundtracks that you can sing at anytime? There are always the family friendly ones such as The Lion King or a Disney musical The Newsies. The Titanic will always live on as will The Bodyguard. What about some lesser know soundtracks like A Clockwork Orange or Last of the Mohicans? Does "Can I get A..." by Jay-Z take you back to the Rush Hour soundtrack? Or a "Spoonful of Sugar" immediately make you think of Mary Poppins? Like music is the soundtrack to our life so is soundtracks the music to our films. So next time that song transports you to that movie you loved let it also remind you of where you were and what you were doing when you saw that movie.
The Oscars this week really showed how music and film cannot live without each other. Several live performances really showcased this. The show opened up with Janelle Monae performing several hits from movies of this past year. She is a phenomenal entertainer and it was really seen live here. After sever awards Eminem came out and performed one of his classic hits  that was apart of his biopic '8 Mile'. It has been a while since we have seen Eminem perform live and he did a great job. In support of a movie based on his life, Sir Elton John performed several of his hits to close off the show. All these live performances, it goes without showing that film and music must coexist to both succeed.

Let's talk about Monday Motivation and what gets you going. I always like to start off the beginning of my week with more relaxed style of music on Mondays. The genre I use most is called 'Chill'. Chill, to me, is a good mix of jazz/r&b/dance. A Lot of it is instrumental with is also another good way to get your day started. I also like to pick a particular artist and let Spotify or Pandora do the rest. That way you don't have to think about it and can focus on the week ahead. Here are some artist that I recommend- BlueSix, FKJ, Kaskade, Cottonbelly to name a few. Once you get going you can pick up the beat to get you moving. Music can definitely help your week get started on the right foot. What puts that extra movement in your step? That's what you should look at next once you get going.
